About Me

Joann - my Wife.
My name is Onas Wm. Jansen III but to my friends, "Butch." I grew up in the good ole' Gray Manor neighborhood of Dundalk, Maryland. I went to Sacred Heart of Mary Catholic School and then onto Archbishop Curley High School graduating in 1979. I eventually attended the University of Maryland @ College Park on a wrestling scholarship. Luckily for me, I met and married a great girl from my neck of the woods, Joann Bream (pictured to the left), back in 1986 on Flag Day! She blessed me with two beautiful and healthy children, Curtis and Catelyn who are now parents themselves. We still live in historic Dundalk, Maryland. In December of 2022, we became grandparents for the first time and now have two grandsons, Marshal and Decker...

Becoming a Police Officer

Chief Behan on Graduation Day
I started in this profession back in the early 80's with the Baltimore County Police Department. I was assigned to the Patrol Division and worked out of Pct 2 (Woodlawn) and Pct 12 (Dundalk) with a bunch of great people. I eventually moved on to Aberdeen Police Department for a short time in the early 90's before joining on with the Sykesville Police Department in 1992. There I worked for a great Chief, Wallace Mitchell for the next 8 years before eventually returning to Aberdeen PD in 2000. And I've been with them ever since and going into my 42nd year on the job!
Currently, I'm the Sr. Corporal for Aberdeen Police Department and assigned to the Office of the Chief in the Administrative Division. I was also a member of the department's SWAT Team for 15 years. As a Police Officer, I've also had the privilege to compete numerous times in the International Law Enforcement Olympics held all over the world while representing my respective agencies at the time. I competed in Judo, Wrestling, and Arm Wrestling and have won it a couple of times as well as a few medals over the years. Check out my Sports page to view some photos of my athletics over the years. During the Police Olympics, I noticed that Officers were trading with each other at the games and thought "how cool that was!" So I started to collect law enforcement insignias then at the very start of my career and continue to this day.
